Welcome to Take a Turn Community Game Library!
What’s the Story?
I love board games—and I love sharing them even more!
I’ve always wished our local public libraries checked out board games, but since they don’t, I decided to start my own community game library. While I did find a fantastic online catalog to use, I'm still just a neighbor sharing my games with other neighbors. Inspired by the active Buy Nothing groups around here, game borrowing will be by porch pickup and dropoff near Oak Park Mall in Johnson County, KS.
Board games are a perfect fit for a library:
- Kids grow fast: Young players bounce through age-appropriate games quickly. Borrowing lets you keep up with their growing skill levels without cluttering your closets.
- Fun for a quick spin: Themed games (like Downton Abbey Clue or Rick & Morty Monopoly) are super fun for a game night, but you might not want to own them.
- Try before you buy: Games can be expensive. Borrowing gives your family or game group a chance to test drive a title before adding it to your own collection.
How Does It Work?
- Register: Fill out the Sign-Up Form so I can set up your account. (It may take up to 48hrs to activate your account.)
- Browse & Hold: Explore the online catalog below. When you find something you’d like to play, request a hold directly through the catalog.
- Porch Pickup: Once your games are ready for pickup, I'll check them out to you. You’ll receive an email with the pickup address (near Oak Park Mall). Grab them from the porch at your convenience.
- Play & Enjoy: You can borrow up to 2 games at a time for 3 weeks. If no one else is on hold for the games, you can renew them once through your account.
- Return: Drop your games back at the porch when you’re finished (you’ll get friendly email reminders before your due date).
